چکیده

Background Pain and functional impairment form the basis for a clinical knee osteoarthritis (KOA) diagnosis according to National Institute Health Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines [1]. Enhanced knowledge of progression from pain radiographic KOA (RKOA), may enable early identification individuals at risk. Objectives To study development in with over time, its associations baseline variables. Methods In all 172 (30-67 years) pain, Swedish HALLOA cohort (2) were studied 2-year follow-up. The coded as NICE or not. None had RKOA baseline. At follow-up they dichotomised not (Ahlbäck grade 1 more). Self-reported symptoms (the Knee injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS)), intensity (numerical rating scale (NRS)) assessed. Body composition, performance examination also Chi-Square-test Mann-Whitney U-test was used comparisons between groups, logistic regression analysis variables adjusted age. Results mean age group 51 (SD 8) years, 67% women, Mass Index (BMI) 26 5). prevalence 13% (n=23), them guidelines. Determinants of pain in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis

Background: Several factors are associated with the development or exacerbation of pain in knee osteoarthritis (KOA). In this study, we reviewed this context based on relevant studies. Methods: Recent published studies which have addressed the relationship between pain and KOA were summarized. Results: Correlates of the clinical, demographic features, laboratory tests and abnormalities on...

A comparison of radiographic anatomic axis knee alignment measurements and cross-sectional associations with knee osteoarthritis

OBJECTIVE Malalignment is associated with knee osteoarthritis (KOA), however, the optimal anatomic axis (AA) knee alignment measurement on a standard limb radiograph (SLR) is unknown. This study compares one-point (1P) and two-point (2P) AA methods using three knee joint centre locations and examines cross-sectional associations with symptomatic radiographic knee osteoarthritis (SRKOA), radiogr...

The Correlation of Supra Patella Effusion With Pain and Disability in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis

Objectives: The present research aimed to evaluate the relationship of supra patella effusion with pain and disability in patients with knee osteoarthritis by Ultrasonography (US). Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 60 patients with knee OA (Mean±SD score of body mass index: 29.81±5.64 kg/m2 and age: 50.48±7.57 years) were selected by nonprobability sampling method. Supra patella effusion wa...

Individuals with high bone mass have an increased prevalence of radiographic knee osteoarthritis

We previously reported an association between high bone mass (HBM) and a bone-forming phenotype of radiographic hip osteoarthritis (OA). As knee and hip OA have distinct risk factors, in this study we aimed to determine (i) whether HBM is also associated with knee OA, and (ii) whether the HBM knee OA phenotype demonstrates a similar pattern of radiographic features to that observed at the hip. ...

Total Knee Replacement Arthroplasty with Buechel and Pappas Knee: Minimum 2-Year Follow-up

BACKGROUND Clinical and radiologic evaluation and analyses of the surgeries using Buechel and Pappas (B-P) knee implants. METHODS The study was conducted on 60 patients who underwent 94 total knee replacement arthroplasty with B-P knee implants from May 2009 to December 2010. The results were compared to the results of 41 patients who underwent 60 knee joint surgeries using NexGen-LPS implant...
